What is Prayer?

Prayer is a way of communicating with God. God can choose to answer prayer as He sees fit, but His word clearly tells us that God does not listen to every prayer lifted up to Him nor does He answer every prayer. His word shows us at least fifteen reasons for prayer going unanswered. Gods does listen to and answer the prayers of the righteous. Proverbs 15:29

The question is, "Does God answer the prayers of non-believers?" The principles above represent many of the major characteristics of a non-believer. Therefore, we can safely say that, in general, God does not answer the prayers of a non-believer.

The first prayer God hears from a non-believer would be the first prayer lifted up to Him after accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. God hears the prayers of a righteous man.

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
2 Corinthians 5:21

"The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous."
Proverbs 15:29
